This Is The Reason Why I’m Wrestling With Stoicism While People Are Dying In A Conflict That Could Have Been Avoided

Rome is not in this battle. Neither is Marcus Aurelias or Epictetus. So let’s have some fun even if our species is threatening our demise

Let’s start with this. Stoicism is practiced by the impoverished, the RICH, the WEALTHY, and the Billionaires. In reverse order. It’s a strange phenomenon.

It does not care about your net worth in some materialistic measure nor does it care how much taxes you pay. It seems to just care.

The best way to wrap your mind around Stoicism is to think in three disciplines. Perception. Action. Will. Now split them into the twelve months of the year. Like So :

Somewhere in January.

BE RUTHLESS TO THE THINGS THAT DON’T MATTER

What? Do you mean as in ruthless to anybody that is not from the “pure race?” Exactly. Read this for clarity.

“How many have laid waste to your life when you weren’t aware of what you were losing, how much was wasted in pointless grief, foolish joy, greedy desire, and social amusements — how little of your own was left to you. You will realize you are dying before your time!” — SENECA, ON THE BREVITY OF LIFE, 3.3b

Translation: Oh? So they have been doing this to us for hundreds of years? What should we do?

Figure it out.

Somewhere in February.

A PROPER FRAME OF MIND

Resent the person who comes in and tries to boss you around. Tell you how to dress, how to think, and most of all how to LIVE.

“Frame your thoughts like this — you are an old person, you won’t let yourself be enslaved by this any longer, no longer pulled like a puppet by every impulse, and you’ll stop complaining about your present fortune or dreading the future.” — MARCUS AURELIUS, MEDITATIONS, 2.2

Translation: Are you talking about the billionaires? Well…. it’s a good place to start.

Somewhere in March
